Forest School

In 2012 Kate, our nursery manager, became a level 3 Forest School leader and now runs regular Forest school sessions in our privately-owned woodland areas.

We offer our sessions to a group of preschool children for 8 weeks at a time and we can be found out at the woods for best part of the day.

Forest School

What do we do at Forest school? There are a selection of ‘always available’ activities set up, such as using the stream and mud kitchen, sculpting with clay, working with tools, exploring the area and den building.

There is also a planned adult led activity for the children to participate in if they wish. We finish with an evaluation and reflection of the session. All of the activities are used to build children’s confidence within an outdoor, and sometimes new, environment. To learn new skills linked to being outside, to develop relationships and teamwork to achieve tasks that have been set and to increase their knowledge of nature and the country side around them. All of the activities are linked to and cover areas of learning and development from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
